In this product update:Q2 was all about improving the admin experience and preparing for major upcoming releases.
Edit mode
Admins in TrainTool can customize programs to fit their specific needs. This includes simple changes like adjusting a segment’s start date or editing introduction text, as well as more advanced edits such as removing role plays or adjusting criteria per role play. Previously, all of these options were immediately visible when entering a TrainTool program, but this often made the environment feel complex and potentially confusing. That’s why, in May, we introduced the edit mode for admins.
Edit mode creates a calmer, more user-friendly experience: all simple adjustments can still be made directly from the program view, while deeper content changes (like adding/removing role plays or editing role play text) only become available after activating edit mode.
To enable edit mode, simply toggle the ‘Edit mode’ switch on the ‘Content’ page of a TrainTool program
Admins
Several improvements have been made to the admin environment to ensure we continue offering a smoother experience for administrators. In addition to removing a few unnecessary buttons, we’ve simplified how coaches are assigned within program settings.
Under the “Coaching” section in a TrainTool program’s settings, admins will now find three radio buttons, allowing them to specify how coaches should be assigned to trainees. If you select “Default coach(es)” or “Trainee selects coach(es)”, you’ll then be able to add the relevant coaches.
Coming soon
Behind the scenes, we’re working hard on several major features we hope to release soon.
Soon, the TrainTool Library will become directly accessible from the admin and coach environments. This means coaches and admins can browse all available TrainTool programs, and admins can instantly add new programs to their own TrainTool environment.
We’re also making great progress on the development of Real-Time Conversations in TrainTool. We’re currently building the visual layer of the feature, and we expect to have the first demos ready before the summer — with the goal of offering it in select programs at the start of the new academic year.
Would you like to be kept up to date on the progress of Real-Time Conversations and explore whether this could be used in your program next school year? Let your TrainTool contact person know!
