The status of the TrainTool online learning environment is: B – Partially Compliant. The status was assigned based on a self-declaration, which was last updated on September 22, 2022.
Application
This statement concerns the online learning environment TrainTool, which is accessible via traintool.com or https://clientname.traintool.com. This statement does not apply to the TrainTool mobile applications or the marketing website https://www.traintool.com.
Accessibility review
From September 5–9, 2022, TrainTool was evaluated for accessibility through an internal manual review. This review was a sample assessment of several pages and determined that the TrainTool online learning environment partially complies with the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
Deviations
TrainTool meets most of the WCAG 2.1 AA criteria. However, there are some intentional deviations from the standard, detailed below:
- Multimedia (video, audio) alternatives. Reason: We consciously deviate from this guideline because meeting it would require a disproportionate investment. TrainTool is specifically designed for training spoken conversation skills. The method is not suitable for people with severe hearing impairments.
- WCAG 2.1 – Success Criterion 1.4.3/1.4.6 Contrast related to branding themes. Reason: Branding themes and their colors are determined by our customers, and we can only provide advisory input. The default theme does comply with the guideline.
- Dyslexia and intellectual disabilities concerning training content. Reason: We only have control over in-house written content. For content created by external parties, such as customers or third-party providers hired by them, we can only act in an advisory capacity.
Planned improvements
We intend to improve accessibility in the following areas:
- Keyboard navigation in video roleplays: Currently, not all elements in video roleplays are operable via keyboard.
- Form error handling: Highlighting the field containing an error.
Ensuring accessibility
Our software team adheres to WCAG 2.1 level AA standards as far as reasonably possible during product development. Accessibility issues can be reported to our support department at: support@traintool.com.
