Camera/Microphone Issues

Troubleshooting for Role Play Recording Issues

Tip:
We recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox as your webbrowser while using TrainTool.
TrainTool works best with these browsers.

If you are experiencing difficulties while recording your Role Play, please follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that you have given TrainTool permission to use your webcam and/or microphone. You can read how to do that in this article.
  2. For missing sound: make sure your microphone is not muted. This may be a system-wide setting, so you may need to dive into your system settings. Here's how to adjust the microphone settings on a Windows computer. For adjusting microphone settings on macOS, you can find the information here.
  3. Does another program (eg Skype) use your webcam and/or microphone? Close these programs and try again. You may need to refresh your browser (F5 on Windows, cmd + R on macOS).
  4. Is there software running for your webcam? Close this program and try again. You may need to refresh your browser.
  5. Try configuring your webcam and/or microphone again. You can do this by clicking the gear icon at the top right of the webcam exercise. This option appears before the Role Play starts.
  6. Restart your browser (close and reopen).
  7. Try the exercise in a different browser, we recommend Google Chrome and Firefox.
  8. If none of the above solutions worked, visit webcammictest.com to test your microphone and webcam. If they do work there then you know that it is a problem from TrainTool and you can contact our via email or chat support department.
